How to Child-Proofing Your Home
Babies are growing very fast and by the time they start moving around, you as the parent you will be too busy chasing them around, and you will not have any time to even think of child-proofing your home for their safety. It is wise you do it in advance before your kid starts to craw and you will not have control and the time to Child-Proofing your house. When they are infants this will not matter a lot, because they will not be moving around, but soon enough they will start crawling and start getting curious on things, and sooner than you think they will be up and running around and so you have to view your home from this point of view so that you can take the necessary precautionary measures.
To have some peace of mind when your baby starts to walk and crawl Child-Proofing your home to avoid many hazards. There are some few important measures that you can undertake so that you can be well prepared when this time comes. The starting point is to baby proof your bath. Some of the precautions is to ensure that the water is not too deep nor too hot for the baby at least not deeper than your baby’s legs before they start walking on their own and start getting inside the bath tubes. Put non-slip mats on the bathroom floor to prevent your baby from falling and also, you can also protect the taps by putting the tap protectors as an extra precaution.
Keep all the unsafe items out of your child’s reach. All the small things like the ornament, buttons cleaning detergents and anything else that can put your child in danger when they put them in their mouth. Keep all the medicines, toiletries that can be toxic and mothballs away from your kids. Put all the items that can be pulled by your baby and fall on them down so that you can avoid these hazards. If you are using things like the ironing board in your home, fold them and keep them away from your baby.
Your kids will not be able to understand the dangers associated with the wires and the cables and these can be the worst culprits of these hazards and so ensure that you hide them away from the kids. Hide all the cables and adaptors that are not in use. Fit finger guards in all places including all the shelves where you keep the medicines so that your baby will not get their fingers trapped and place them even in the gaps between the hinges so that the baby will not get their fingers trapped between the hinges.
Ensure that your home windows are well secured so that the baby cannot be able to pass through them as at times they can be tempted to peep through the windows. Install the window restrictors such that the kids will not be able to open the window, but still when you open the window yourself, you will restrict the window so that fresh air can enter your house but still secure your kid by limiting the space between the window such that the kid cannot pass through the wind and avoid slip and falls.
